In response to Google+'s video conferencing function, social networking site Facebook is about to launch Skype-powered video chat that works in browser. Facebook has hit a record 750 million users. The new service could be a huge boost for Skype, which currently has about 145 million regular users.
Facebook’s Skype service which is initially limited to one-to-one video chat will be free. Skype chief executive Tony Bates said the deal with Facebook was only the start of a potentially lucrative partnership.
Even though Google+'s features are similar to those already available on Facebook, Google is generating interest with its videoconferencing function, which supports up to 10 people in a video call.
Zuckerberg hinted that video chat for multiple people could eventually be available on Facebook, but he said that most video chats today occur between two people.
In addition to those, the social networking site has been introducing various services to capture more online users. For instance, it has launched a new payment system — Facebook Credit — in India.
